About the role
The Senior Cloud Engineer is a pivotal role responsible for managing and optimizing core infrastructure and services that empower all engineering teams across the organization. This role focuses on cost control, ensuring security, and driving automation to enhance operational efficiency and scalability. The Cloud Engineer builds and maintains cloud hygiene practices, provides visibility into infrastructure costs, and oversees SaaS product permissions, contracts, costs, and licenses. By fostering best practices in automation and resource management, the role ensures the stability, security, and cost-effectiveness of the organization’s foundational systems, enabling seamless delivery of business objectives.
What will you be doing?
- Design, build, and manage highly scalable, secure, and available infrastructure operating 24×7.
- Ensure that Auctane infrastructure platforms are secure and can scale to support rapid growth in transaction volumes during peak business periods, minimizing exposure to single points of failure.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure platforms with the highest levels of security, reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment, monitoring, and operations processes.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure applications are designed for reliability and scalability.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact business operations.
- Manage cloud hygiene practices, ensuring efficient resource utilization and cost management.
- Provide visibility into infrastructure costs and work with stakeholders to optimize spending.
- Oversee SaaS product permissions, contracts, costs, and licenses to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Mentor and guide junior DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration
- Provide out of hours support either as part of scheduled rota or critical project delivery
- Ensure data stores are handing data according to our policies.
What are we looking for?
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Information Security/Assurance, Internal Audit, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with AWS in a production environment and mastery of AWS services for cloud infrastructure management.
- Experience in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or related roles with a focus on infrastructure automation, scalability, and security. Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of Cloud Engineering principles, including Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Cost Optimization, and Observability.
- Advanced proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems with strong knowledge of system administration.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python for automation and infrastructure management.
- Advanced experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, as well as configuration management tools.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols and security best practices, including IP, TCP, HTTP, DNS, SSL.
- Proven experience in designing and managing highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure platforms.
- Experience supporting enterprise-level storage and networking technologies.
- Passion for automation and efficiency, constantly seeking ways to improve processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting expertise for complex system engineering issues.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools to ensure infrastructure performance and reliability.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and balancing multiple stakeholders’ needs.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in an environment with DevOps best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Willing to attend conferences, webinars, and meet-ups to stay updated on industry trends and share knowledge.
- Proficiency in Polish and English is required for this role.

At AUCTANE we work in a hybrid model. This means that it’s up to you to choose whether you prefer office work, remote work or their combinations. Visits to the office will be necessary from time to time – you will set their frequency with your team. In the office, you have access to a workplace in a comfortable open space, fresh snacks and the best coffee in the city in our cafe and kitchen. You can use the relaxation rooms and our newly opened bookcrossing library. Working remotely, you use company equipment.
