Metapack as viceleader of Football Sixes in Zielona Góra!

The Metapack team took part in the Zielona Góra Football Sixes season. After the fierce battle was over, we gathered members of our football team and asked them how they summarized this first round.

Patrick, you are a Metapack striker. How do you rate this round in Zielona Góra Football Sixes?

Patrick: I am satisfied. I didn’t expect such good results, especially since we are not a team that previously played together. And we are also an “IT” team, and despite everything, we were able to beat our rivals who seemed to be better at first glance.

Which match did you think was the hardest?

Patrick: I don’t know which one was the hardest. In every game we gave our best and had a lot of fun, so I personally didn’t feel that any of them was more difficult or easier.

You are in the 4th league now. If you did so well in the first round, there is a chance you’ll be promoted to the 3rd league?

Andrzej: To tell the truth, I have no experience in “sixes”, this is my first season. From what I heard the jump from one league to another is big and I don’t know if we want to force it and stop having fun eventually.

The Metapack team is very large and there were a lot of you at many matches. Were there any times when players were missing?

Andrzej: There were times when a lot of people were ill, there were injuries, but there were always 10 or 12 people, so we always had someone to play. We had a chance to fight our rivals (laughs). And is a large number of players a problem? No. It’s just more fun for us.

When you started playing, did new people join? Someone in Metapack said they want to play matches too?

Andrzej: During the season two people joined – Bartek and Wojtek, but that’s because they had just started working in the company. We didn’t think about adding new players outside Metapack just because our games were weaker. We decided that we work in this company,  so we won’t take any outsiders.

Bartek, you were clearly a star in the team, but you got injured and took over the role of a coach. Were your teammates listening to you on the pitch and following your orders?

Bartek: I think they were listening (laughs). I think that everything was done properly, moreover, the results show that we did well. And whether I was a star… I don’t think I was.

How many goals have you scored in the whole season? Did you count?

Bartek: A few for sure (laughs). I don’t count the goals I scored because I don’t score them for myself but for the team. We score goals, not me.

Do you see the difference between how you played in the first matches and the last ones?

Bartek: Yes. I think as long as I was on the pitch, we played too individually. It wasn’t until some time that we started playing as a team. It was noticeable and I loved that we integrated like that. Everyone found their place on the pitch and did their best to make things right.

Sebastian, if you were a coach, what would you improve on your team? Quantity, quality, training?

Sebastian: The only thing I would improve is that we should be less nervous. There are no professionals among us, so you can’t expect amazing results, and yet we are at the forefront of the table. I wish there was even more fun out of it, because the more we got nervous, the worse it was. I would just change that and nothing else.

How did you choose the players and decide who does what?

Wojtek: Everyone could take the position they wanted. There was no compulsion that someone had to play in defense and someone else in goal. We played the positions in which we felt strong.

If you had a coach on the bench to cheer you up and lead you through the games, would this result be better? What do you think?

Wojtek: Maybe it would help to some extent, but as we mentioned, we mostly want to have fun with this game. Probably a person who tried to impose some kind of strictness would fail.

At one of the matches there were two loud girls from Metapack. Does this kind of cheering help or disturb you?

Wojtek: It helps us a lot as a team. We are used to it and it is a plus for us.

Who did you most want to beat at these matches? Did you have any team that you especially wanted to win with?

Mateusz: Playing with E-obuwie was almost like an e-commerce derby (laughs).

How would you rate your form in the first round?

Mateusz: Currently, the form is not very well developed, but I am working on it.

Do you have any training sessions before the next matches?

Mateusz: No, we don’t have any trainings at the moment.

So the match is your training?

Mateusz: Yes.

Marcin, who would you distinguish among the Metapack players? Who would you consider in future as part of your football team?

Marcin: Generally everyone is very valuable, the whole team, but for sure Bartek and Bartek were players who did a great job.

Who was the most anxious player on the team?

Everyone: Paweł! Paweł, our goalkeeper.

Did you prepare for the matches somehow? Did you have any special diet?

Marcin: No (laughs). We don’t have anything like that, no diets or food restrictions.

What was the match strategy in short?

Marcin: Basically to play the best we can,  make sure we cover the oposite team, so that no one stays alone and get the ball.

How do you think your second round will go? After what you’ve seen in this part of the season?

Marcin: I think it will be good. The first round was introductory, we saw what the league looks like, what the teams look like. I’ve played sixes before, but this season there were practically all new teams so we didn’t know much about them. We got to know them, we know how to play and I think it will get better.

Was there any team in your league that stood out especially? Was it better, better organized?

Wojtek: We could say that about three teams, but during the matches noticed that the competitive teams wanted to beat us more than we wanted to beat them. It was often the case that the best squad the team had was fielded when they were playing with us. There were people who didn’t play before our match, didn’t play after our match, but played against us.

Ok, so you are the leaders and the team everyone wants to beat. So you deserve to get to the higher league, or at least to win the first place… Don’t you want to admit it?

Wojtek: Being a leader comes with a certain amount of pressure, and that’s not what this league is about. As we said before, we play for fun. Although it’s nice to listen to comments like “we lost to IT specialists” (laughs). I think the reason for this success is because we play for fun, not to be in the first place.
