Metachef – a culinary challenge in Metapack

How to spend time at home productively? Developing culinary passions. A few weeks ago we invited Metapackers to a challenge, but the response and its results exceeded our wildest expectations. See the Metapackers’ signature dishes and be inspired. Who do you think deserved to be on the podium?
Beata’s Creamy Charlotte
For busy, not necessarily culinary gifted, who want their loved ones to enjoy something delicious and make a great impression on their guests.
Beata
This is how Beata describes her cake, which not only looks beautiful. It combines the flavors of sweet white chocolate, fudge, peanut butter and… crackers! We like such combinations!
Kacper’s ultra-thick burger
Burger a’la Drapek is a real treat for lovers of beef and fast food. What’s its secret? Of course, excellent quality of meat and… a lot of it. Kacper is constantly working on his perfect recipe, and he says he was able to perfect it by adding an extra layer of bacon.
The heart of this delicacy, of course, is beef. Make sure it is of good quality and follow Kacper’s tips:
I put a peace of beef (with a hole) on the barbecue. The hole should be facing down. Frying takes 3-4 minutes on both sides. After this time, I put cheese on top of the meat and close the barbecue (without pressing it) - so that the cheese melts.

Maciek
Śniadaniowo-deserowe przysmaki Magdy
Niewątpliwą mistrzynią kuchni śniadaniowej i deserowej jest Magda. Do wyzwania zgłosiła aż 12 dań, a wśród nich znalazły się pancake’i, naleśniki, chrupaki, tost francuski na słodko, tarta gruszkowo-migdałowa, deser chia z musem kiwi, zabajone z malinami, a także sałatka pomidorowa, tosty francuskie, kartacze i wariacja na temat kaszy jaglanej. Sami nie jesteśmy w stanie wybrać naszego faworyta.
Magda’s poetic pastries
Our second Magda stole our hearts not only with tasty home-made bread and sweet meringue, but also with a poem prepared especially for this occasion (which for obvious reasons is not translated, but if there are poets among you, feel free to send us a translation):
Gdy weekendu smak już czuć
Wnet mail przychodzi, myślę sobie: wróć!
Metapack motywuje,
A każdy Metapackers coś na weekend ugotuje
Podejmując wyzwanie
Na rychłe gotowanie
By dostać do potrzymania
Choć cień medalu kuchennego mistrzomana
Pod mój nóż trafiły bezy i chleby
Chyba mojej rodzinie się należy?
Obawa była wielka,
Bo cukiernica ze mnie niezbyt pojętna.
Lecz gdy po wypiekach zostały same okruszki,
Radość opisać mogę niczym Przyłuski.
Beef tartare a’la Marcin
Beef was the favourite ingridient among the competition of Metachef. Marcin introduced us with a tartare. In his version, the most important thing is to chop the meat yourself – it is supposed to get the best flavor out of it.
Marcin first cuts the beef into thin slices, and then into dice about half a centimeter in size. He adds fresh chives, coriander, garlic onion, olive oil, French mustard, pickled cucumber, salt, pepper and chilli to the meat. And the effect? Take a look:
Marcin’s proposal consists of two dishes combined into one: a tasty sauce and crispy chicken wings. Perfect for lunch or a snack to a movie or a match.
To prepare the sauce, you will need: two tablespoons of cream 18%, one tablespoon of mayonnaise, 50 g of blue cheese, chives, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, pepper and a little salt.
The glaze is the most important thing in the wings. Marcin recommends making it with butter and hot sauce. Dissolve the butter in a water bath or on very low heat and then add your favorite hot tomato sauce.
Marzena’s variation on pasta
Pasta with shrimps, fried cherry tomatoes and asparagus – sounds simple and very tasty. Marzena proposed her own vision of a healthy and filling pasta dish that delights the eye and – we are sure – the mouth as well.
This is an excellent proposition for a quick lunch:
Delicious burgers by Piotr
Burgers for dinner make every family member happy. No wonder, this is a quick and tasty dish, which – let’s agree – is much healthier when prepared at home. And how much fun can it bring!
Where did the idea for such a meal come from? Piotr simply wrote:
They closed the burger place, it had to be dealt with somehow.
Piotr
Sebastian’s Greek Briami
Another “foreign” proposal, Briami straight from Greece, which in Sebastian’s home evokes many pleasant, holiday memories. What is that? Briami is a couscous casserole with zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes and onions, sprinkled with feta cheese or pecorino. Served with tzatziki and your favorite meat.
Tomek’s sweet rolls dripping with frosting
At the end, something sweet again, or as Tomek describes it:
Warm, fresh, fragrant and dripping with frosting quarantine poppy seeds sweet rolls.
Tomek
We have to admit – they look really tasty, and this proves that home baking is not only the domain of ladies. Perfect for an afternoon coffee or a break from work.
Metachef – Official Challenge Results
Who do you think deserved to win? We tried not only to evaluate the dishes themselves, but also to appreciate the effort put into their preparation. Here are the official results of the challenge:
The competition in the culinary competition was so even, and the differences between the individual places were so small that it was impossible to squeeze even a thin slice of prosciutto between them.
In the end, the winner was Magda, who not only will bakes bread, sweeten it with meringue, but if it’s not enough, she will also write a poem.
Marcin became the silver medalist, whose way of serving tartare suggests close ties with Haute Cuisine.
Pancakes, “kartacze”, chia dessert – these are only 3 of the 12 dishes prepared and presented by Magda, which gave her the third place on the podium.
We would like to thank all Metapackers for their participation and congratulations on the winnings!
